Dress Trends

Most former brides will tell you, “when you see your dress you will just know.”
Well, I’m sure you’ll agree, as simple as that sounds, it really doesn’t seem quite as easy as that!
Especially when there are so many stores, styles and designers on the Gold Coast to choose from, where do you start? And, when you walk into a bridal shop and see what seems like thousands of dresses, which one do you try on first? Keep an open mind and try on all the styles. Your personality and own style will help you find your dream wedding gown, just be true to yourself. You will know when it is ‘the one’ from the look on your face, and you won’t want to take it off!

From the moment you get engaged, why not start exploring your options, this way you won’t have a short deadline to find your perfect dress as time is valuable. A good eight months is recommended to allow plenty of time to choose, order and have final fittings without getting stressed out.

This season many brides are still turning to the vintage look with lots of lace on their dresses. While white is always an option, lace will work extremely well with gold, rose and champagne colours as well. This is a great way to avoid the traditional design. This season many Gold Coast retailers are seeing a lot more natural warmer toned dressed as well, such as alabaster and oyster, which complement the bride’s skin tone and complexion.

But, for those of you who’d prefer a simple modern look, many brides are now opting for plain dresses with just an embellished beaded crystal belt on the waist or under bust, which is very flattering yet not overbearing.

As with all fashion, bridal trends do come and go, but the one thing you must consider above all is your body shape. This will determine which styles will flatter your body type and compliment you the most on your big day. Some styles just suit certain shapes. If you aren’t sure which style will suit you, try it on, and you will know when you see yourself in the mirror, if it is flattering or not.
Of course there is always the advice from a trained bridal consultant to guide you along the way.
