Felicity Hales married Zac Ryding

How we met: We actually went to primary school together (grade 3&4) not that Zac remembers! It was almost 20 years later when we met again. We were introduced by a mutual friend. The spark was definitely there from the start.

Stationery: Pretty much everything was handmade and in neutral tones. Kraft brown, grey, cream, combined with lace, natural burlap and twine. Very simple and sweet.

Ceremony: We found the cutest open air chapel out at Cobaki (back of Tweed), timber floors and ceilings, open air looking out towards a lake with beautiful stain glass windows as our back drop.

Music: Walking down the aisle was to ‘Won’t give up’ (acoustic) by Jason Mraz. Cutting of the cake: Stevie Wonder- ‘For once in my life’, first dance: Etta James- ‘At last’.
At the reception we had Josh Boots Duo, who were awesome. They played acoustic music throughout dinner and then turned into DJ’s when it was time for the dancing to start.

Reception: We had chosen Babalou at Kingscliff to hold our reception. It was perfect as it was all our style of timber floors and exposed rafters, combined with quirky furnishings. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful from whoa to go.

Theme: Burlap, lace, twine and added touches of timber. We had candles everywhere at our reception. The table centre pieces were off cuts of tree stumps, complete with personalised candles, milk bottles with soft pink flowers and table numbers and cute jam jars with pom pom collars filled with more beautiful flowers.

Flowers: We had a mixture of green carnations, white hydrangea, baby’s breath and some crazy beautiful green hairy pom pom thing that we just loved. The bridal party all had baby’s breath. The girls had full bouquets and mini ones for the junior bridesmaids. The flower girls had buckets with rose petals and the boys and parents had baby’s breath button holes complete with twine wrapped stems.

Cake: Our cake was two tiers of vanilla and caramel mud cake. It had a messy white frosting and was topped with a ‘WE DO’ twine wrapped cake topper. Very us.

Dress and Suits: I bought my dress and birdcage head piece from Strictly Bridal and the silver clip added was my great grandmothers. My bridesmaid dresses were shades of neutral and soft pink and were from Dissh, junior bridesmaids were from Forever New. The boys all wore dark denim jeans and camel coloured shoes with rolled sleeves, collared light blue and white checkered shirts.

Photographer: Leigh Warner and his assistant were fantastic. Our wedding photo location was at Fingal Light House, Leigh worked like a machine all day through to the night. We are so thrilled with our photos.

Honeymoon: We had a three week honeymoon in the USA. It started in Hawaii, then San Francisco. We hired a car and drove out to Lake Tahoe for a bit of skiing. We then drove from there to Las Vegas where we gambled, caught a show, and did a helicopter flight of the Grand Canyon. We moved on after a few days and drove out to the Sequoia Forrest to see the General Sherman Tree and on to the amazing drive of the west coast from the little fishing town of Morro Bay back up to San Fran before we headed home again.

Advice: Enjoy your day, take in every moment. Plan it for yourselves because you can’t please everyone. In the end all of your guests are there to witness the celebration of your love for each other and that’s all that really matters.
