Laura Barton married Federico Sienra

How we met: I changed schools in year 10 and Fed was just about to start year 12. As I was enrolling I walked into this handsome man, even mum said ‘’wow good looking boys go here.’’ It only took one movie date to know he was the one. It’s true when they say when you know, you know.

Proposal: I had brought Fed a Sydney Harbour bridge climb ticket for his birthday and once we got to the top of the bridge it was time for individual photos. Whilst admiring the view I said to Fed “this is so romantic”, and he replied “speaking of romantic” and got down on one knee and said those four magic words. I don’t remember the way down, I was just so excited! We had been together for eight years so I knew it was coming but for some reason it hadn’t crossed my mind that day, now I look back, I see it was so obvious.

Ceremony: RACV Royal Pines Resort Chapel. The stain glass window with doves on it is so stunning with the sun shining through down the aisle and the white asymmetrical chapel had lovely timber pews and stage with great acoustics so no need for microphones which eased my nerves. Judy the wedding co-ordinator suggested bio degradable confetti which looks amazing in photos and is a special moment when your exit the church and it’s thrown. It ends up everywhere, down your dress, in your hair and sticks to your lipstick, but is so worth it.

Music: Down the aisle to ‘Back at one’ by Brian Mcknight, bridal party entry to ‘Forever’ by Chris Brown and first dance as husband and wife to ‘The time of my life’ by Dirty Dancing. WE R DJ’S played a mix of dance comical music and Spanish music for Fed’s Uruguayan heritage. Everyone got up and danced, the Spanish music was a huge hit.

Reception: Royal Pines Resort Convention Lobby. We had an amazing two course alternate drop with our cake served as dessert.

Theme: Royal elegance. We kept the reception intimate, romantic and elegant for our 80 guests, with accents of gold, whites and purples.

Cake: Cakes Alouisa created five tiers, each with a different flavor.
From the bottom was chocolate mud then humming bird, red velvet, butter cake and caramel mud on top. Our cake was a massive stand out, it was huge, delicious and beautiful.

Dress: Mermaid style dress with fantastic beading, tulle bottom and lace up back, topped off with a beaded belt by designer Sophia Tolli.

Photography: Lauren Joy and Tara are extremely professional, relaxed and fun,
everyone was so comfortable and they captured all the incredible moments of our day from start to finish. Even with such a big bridal party Lauren and Tara captured everyone at the right moment. The slideshow Lauren put together for us brought me to tears, Lauren is so talented and really captures the special moments. One of the main reasons we chose Royal Pines was that it provides so many fantastic photo opportunities inside the resort and outside with well- kept grounds and lakes, and with Emerald Lakes only five minutes away that gave us the ultimate European back drop, especially the sandstone stairs. I can’t thank Lauren enough for capturing our day, she is truly so gifted and talented and blew us away when we received our photos and we honestly can’t pick a favourite. She captured our silly side and loving selves that everyone knows us to be.

Honeymoon: We did a honeymoon gift registry as well as wishing well on the day so our guests could contribute to our extravagant honeymoon instead of buying house hold items that we already had. Maldives is truly paradise on earth and Mexico is so much fun. As a wedding gift Fed sprung the second half of our honeymoon on me in a beautiful letter which had a world map on the back. It said ‘’choose somewhere for an extended honeymoon, you have X amount to spend’’. Fed is truly the sweetest and kindest person I know.
