Michelle Strojek married Mark Burrell

Proposal: South Bank, Melbourne. Mark waited until our next trip to Melbourne so he could ask my father’s permission. He kept it a total surprise from me. Mark had planned a dinner in South Bank and before dinner we went for a romantic walk along the river when Mark got down on one knee and proposed and of course the answer was yes.

Stationery: Handmade and designed from start to finish by us. It was made from premium quality paper and was ivory and navy blue in colour.

Ceremony: Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove with Clarah Luxford as our wedding celebrant.

Music: Singer, Matt Saunoa – winner of the 3rd season of New Zealand Idol in 2006.

Reception: Grange Room at the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove.

Theme: Traditional and elegant theme. A lot of the styling was included in our package. However we added our own touch of elegance as we wanted our wedding to be very classic. We choose to have a fairy light backdrop behind the bridal table, five ceiling drapes, white rose bouquets as centrepieces on a circle mirror with candles around. We also had a lolly buffet.

Flowers: Peonies, traditional roses and grey dusty miller.

Cake: Four tier elegant cake by Cakes Alouisa.

Dress and Suits: My dress was purchased in an exclusive boutique in Dubai, UAE. It was originally made for an Arabian princess. Bridesmaid’s dresses were an adventure all of their own as we purchased the material and took them to an old school tailor in Al Satwa, UAE, they turned out amazing! Suits were black, white French cuff shirt, navy blue tie (same material and made at the same place as bridesmaids). Mark wore the Chelsea tails and the groomsmen had the same suits without the tail.

Shoes and Accessories: My earrings and headpiece was from Fletcher and Grace and shoes by Alan Pinkus at Myer. Bridesmaide’s shoes from Nine West and earrings from Forever New.

Photography: Leigh Warner Photography. Exceptional.

Honeymoon: Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Advice: Time management is very important. The day goes extremely quickly, enjoy every moment, what will be will be. Pick a great photographer and videographer, well worth the money to be able to cherish the special day forever.
